🩺 Supporting Veteran Patients: Key Insights for GPs🩺 📢 Dr. Emily Brooks, Veterans’ Clinical Champion at the Royal College of General Practitioners, highlights key findings on veteran healthcare. A recent RCGP survey shows over half of veterans have service-related health issues, yet many don't seek help. This is often due to a stoic mindset, comparing their issues with peers, or believing civilian GPs won't understand. The Veteran Friendly GP Practice Accreditation scheme helps GPs better identify and support veterans, encouraging more to seek the care they need. Join the DAV Commander's Action Network (CAN) to learn more about all of the legislation that DAV supports and take action! The CAN makes it so easy, you simply have to sign up and click a button to support those who have served our country! Please help DAV keep the promises made to America's veterans. The Improving Whole Health for Veterans with Chronic Conditions Act (H.R. 4150/S. 1954), would authorize the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to provide dental care services to enrolled veterans diagnosed with diabetes and heart disease. These chronic conditions are closely linked with poor dental health and lack of dental care exacerbates these conditions, worsening their progression and increasing medical costs. However, only 15% of veterans are eligible for dental care through the VA health care system. Many of the remaining 85% of veterans who are not eligible for dental care struggle with access to affordable, quality dental care that meets their physical and oral health needs. We call on all DAV members and supporters to contact their representatives and senators and urge them to co-sponsor and support the Improving Whole Health for Veterans with Chronic Conditions Act.

Important! All Veterans who are enrolled in VA Health Care: Make sure to look at the expiration date of your Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC). Some expiration dates are coming near, and it's important to visit enrollment/eligibility in your local medical center or community based outpatient clinic (CBOC) so that a new card can be made. If the card has expired, this should NOT interrupt care. If the care is interrupted, please let us know and we will reach out on your behalf to help prevent this from happening. U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Please spread the word to others! #veterans #veteran #veteranshelpingveterans #veteranshealth #health #healthcare #hospitals #education
