Los Pinos Fire Protection District (Colorado) conducted a community-driven strategic planning process from June 10 – 14, 2024. Facilitated by the Center of Public Safety Excellence, 18 community members and 23 agency members participated in this four-day planning workshop. Companies are still commonly using the title "Document Controller" yet we will be expected to manage the Digital Golden Thread of "Information" throughout a projects life cycle Taken from this article... Remember your building’s "information" must be: ✅️ Kept Digitally ✅️ Kept securely ✅️ A building’s single source of truth ✅️ Available to people who need the "information" to do a job ✅️ Available when the person needs the "information" ✅️ Presented in a way that can be easily used #digital #dgt #goldenthread #bsa #buildingsafetyact #informationmanagement
The introduction of a ‘golden thread’ of information for buildings was a recommendation by Dame Judith Hackitt in her independent review of building regulations and fire safety report following the Grenfell tragedy. The purpose of the golden thread is to ensure those responsible for the safety of a building have the right information in order to understand the building and the steps that are needed to keep both the building and the people living in it safe. Retaining accurate, up-to-date and easily accessible information about a building also enables dutyholders to demonstrate they are fulfilling their legal duties. National Fire Prevention Week is celebrated each year during the week of October 9 in commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire in 1871. Folklore says that the incident began the night of October 8 in a barn owned by Patrick and Catherine O’Leary. Regardless of the actual cause, the result was devastating damage to the entire city of Chicago. What became of the city after this horrific event? Well ironically, the fire cleared the way for a newer, much improved Chicago. Ten years after the fire, the city population had nearly doubled. Twenty years later, the Windy City was home to over 1 million people and featured the world’s first true skyscrapers. And maybe the most ironic fact is that the site where the O’Leary barn once stood now hosts the training academy of the Chicago Fire Department. This year's theme for National Fire Prevention Week/Month is "Cooking safety starts with YOU". Unattended cooking is the leading cause of residential fires in the U.S. Please take Fire Safety and Fire Prevention seriously. Protect yourself and your family by educating yourself and being prepared. #thegreatchicagofire #fireprevention #fireservice #firesafety #firesafetytips #firesafetytraining #smokealarms #fireprotection #residentialhomefires #unattendedcookingfires #stoplossllc #firesupression #preventhefirestoptheloss
