J. Michael Connors MD, (or Mick, for those who’ve met him!) is a Pediatric Emergency physician and VBC advocate and expert. Recently, on his website (https://us-pediatrics.com/), he gave an elegantly simple explanation of some of the alphabet soup associated with value-based care. With his permission, we are adding to the BoPC lexicon to serve as an aid for those trying to find their way in the maze of acronyms. #valuebasedcare #primarycare #physicians

Dealing with Pediatric patients embody a unique blend of innocence and resilience that profoundly impacts their healing journey. Their innocence is characterized by a pure and unfiltered perspective on life, often manifests as a remarkable capacity for joy and wonder, even amidst illness. This innate positivity can be a powerful force in the healing process, providing both emotional strength and motivation to endure challenging treatments. Children’s natural curiosity and imagination can transform hospital stays into adventures with play becoming a therapeutic tool that aids recovery. This playful spirit not only distracts from pain but also fosters cognitive and emotional development which is crucial for holistic healing. I as a Physiotherapist while dealing with Pediatric patients often harness this by integrating play therapy, art, and storytelling into my care practices, creating an environment that feels less clinical and more nurturing. Moreover, the strong bonds children form with their caregivers can enhance their sense of security and well-being. These relationships built on trust, empathy and are vital as they help young patients feel supported and understood. This emotional support, combined with medical care, significantly contributes to their recovery. Ultimately, the innocence of pediatric patients serves as a beacon of hope and resilience, reminding us of the profound impact of positivity and human connection in the healing process. #pediatricpatient #Clinicalpractice #Pneumoniapatient #Physiotherapist #innocenceofchild #Healinginprocess #Hospitaldiaries #Wardpostings #evidencebasedreasoningpractice
