Retail vs institutional investors: A huge positioning gap! Quite a large disconnect in positioning between retail and institutional investors according to the recent data from the Bank of America’s regular survey of global fund managers and the American Association of Individual Investors’ weekly survey. See chart below. So far retail investors have got it right by keeping a fair exposure to equities. The positioning gap has never been wider over the past twenty years. The predominance of retail investor influence is becoming a recurrent trend in the development of liquid financial markets, partly due to easier access to investing through online discount brokerage platforms and more accessible financial information via social media. #markets #investing

The research concludes that the outlook for the year ahead is promising with macro factors improving which should enhance investor and vendor confidence and help to unlock current supply issues.
