Just a few days ago, we celebrated the 2024 International Women In Engineering Day, INWED. This year's celebration resonated deeply with me as I noticed a subtle yet concerning trend of regression against women, not just within engineering profession but across all fields. Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics have undeniably revolutionized our world for the better. I'm proud to be part of a community of women engineers who persist in making impactful contributions despite the gender barriers that try to hold us back. Coming from a family of engineers, problem-solving through science, data, and analysis is ingrained in our DNA, with no gender-based limitations. Decisions are made based on facts and not just the gender of who 'said' it. This has helped me thrive. Let's all take a pledge to reach out to our loved ones and acquaintances, advocating for gender-neutral decisions/career choices, particularly in Science & Engineering. It's crucial to empower and uplift 'girls in Science & Engineering,' ensuring they grasp that their potential knows no gender bounds. #WomenEngineers #STEM #INWED #Excellence #Career #Engineering

Techie and product manager with a focus on enterprise software (SAP), open source, app development and emerging technologies
➡️ what she said! When contemplating how to start this post, I thought the above opening line would be a great way to express my viewpoint - that on the topic of “woman in tech”, it may be more appropriate for men to tone down, and instead help amplify the female voices and support them via actions. While discussing this with my teenage daughters (who act as my sounding board on such matters) they pointed out that such an opener is too close to “that’s what she said”, which obviously is totally inappropriate and counter-productive in this context. 🤦♂️ Proofs my point though - rather than men speaking about the topic, we may should listen more. I recall another incident a few years back. I was asked to speak about inclusion and diversity to build effective teams and how to get more young women interested in STEM roles. I thought it would be a good approach to start with "As a father of 3 teenage girls ...", but I was quickly interrupted by the (female) comms colleague saying this is not a good opener as it may come across as me only caring about the topic because of my daughters. Aargh. I do care about the topic because I understand that diverse teams are better performing. It's that simple. As such, I'm looking forward to attending the "Woman of Tech" conference in Stuttgart on the 19th and 20th of June. Please join us if you can! #WomenOfTechGermany #InnovatingWork #WomanOfTech #WomanInTech

Today, we celebrate International Women in Engineering Day, a day dedicated to honoring the incredible achievements of women in engineering and technology. This day serves as an inspiration, shining a light on the contributions of women engineers and encouraging the next generation of girls to pursue careers in these fields. However, it also highlights the ongoing challenges women face, including underrepresentation and discrimination, underscoring the urgent need for continued support. Women have made significant strides in engineering, contributing to groundbreaking projects and innovations that shape our world. Their accomplishments demonstrate not only their expertise but also their resilience in overcoming the barriers that exist in a traditionally male-dominated field. INWED is a moment to celebrate these successes and acknowledge the women who have paved the way for others. We can create an environment where all women engineers can thrive, innovate, and continue to make significant contributions to our world. Let’s celebrate today and commit to building a more inclusive and equitable future for women in engineering. #INWED #WomenInEngineering #Engineering #WomenInSTEM #GirlsInSTEM #DiversityInTech #EqualOpportunity #STEMEducation #Mentorship #InclusiveWorkplace #GenderEquality #EmpowerWomen #WomenInTech
