“Carrier service should never erode my margins, but it does all the time.” Risking your margins with every carrier decision? Service data shouldn’t be a black box when you exist in a service-based industry. You should have access to carrier performance data at the point of booking a load or sourcing new carriers. Make informed decisions by knowing the performance you can expect from your carriers, and compare your service to industry benchmarks. Control your cost-per-load and protect your margins. iso.io

The first phase of a National Motor Freight Traffic Association, Inc. Classification overhaul will take effect in Q1 of 2025, the National Motor Freight Traffic Association announced. The changes are designed to simplify the classification system by using a standardized approach to LTL pricing based on density, handling, stowability and liability. The NMFTA is planning three listening sessions on the changes next month. The first will be for LTL carriers on Aug. 6, the second for third-party logistics providers on Aug. 7, and the last for shippers on Aug. 8.

More reliable carriers lead to lower operational costs. Fewer bounces, fewer reschedules and fewer headaches 😅 . Naturally, this translates to higher service levels and happier customers. Happier customers lead to higher volumes and more revenue. Growth! For a service-based industry, service-level performance data remains a black box for freight brokers. Everyone sells on 'exceptional service' yet few can actually demonstrate that upfront. Historically, brokers brute force their way to deliver for their customers at all costs. This approach can create unnecessary overhead and erode margins. Taking a data-driven approach to carrier sourcing demonstrates a commitment to service and can significantly reduce your cost per load, improve margins and your reputation in the marketplace. Read more in TIA (Transportation Intermediaries Association) January issue of 3PL perspective and let me know what you think.

Carrier reliability is as important as fraud when it comes to running a freight brokerage in 2024. The more reliable your carriers, the lower your cost-per-load.

Five months ago, a mid-size freight brokerage implemented C4 to help prioritize carrier reuse and increase digital bookings. 🔗 Leveraging C4's Digital Freight Matching tool enabled them to get live loads in front of their in-network carriers instantly without any manual work. Last month, even though load volumes were down, they saw a return of 48% of carrier replies and 15% of their loads getting booked after the first email was sent. 🤔 If you could digitally book 15% of your loads this month, would this help you meet or exceed your goal? I will just add off of Russell Jones that the Cargo Chief's C4 product feeds into the Journal of Commerce data sets. So if you're reading our Intermodal Savings Index, or any of our truckload rate data, it's powered through several intermodal and truckload data streams, including Cargo Chief's C4 product. And I can say since I merged them with Loadsmart, DAT Freight & Analytics, and our other anonymous 3PL data partners that the C4 data correlates almost precisely to our other industry data sources. Therefore, I believe C4 data to be highly accurate, and Russ isn't even paying me to say that.

Helping success-driven people build thriving relationships! 🔥| Relationship & Intimacy Coach | Sales Leader
Are you standing up for your regular carriers? Rates have dropped and with that, you have every broker in the country trying to lowball their way in with your customer. You could match and your carrier will likely have no choice but to match as well. But it's been a rough year for carriers. There have been more low points for rates than there have been high. Don't be afraid to express your carrier's commitment to your customer's freight. You are your carrier's voice. Good customers value relationships. At the end of the day, keeping your regulars happy helps your customer just as much as they help you. #3pl #holidayfreight
