Finding the right fit at a moment's notice - It's tougher than it looks. 📉 Statistically speaking, UK schools face a daunting task when the unexpected happens, and they need to find cover. The education sector is currently experiencing a significant shortage of qualified substitute teachers, an issue that most school administrators are all too familiar with. Why is this? A recent study highlights that nearly one in three schools find it challenging to secure cover for absent staff within 24 hours. It's not just about finding someone to fill the gap; it's about ensuring that quality teaching continues without pause. After all, every lesson counts in shaping our future generations. From my experience, this conundrum requires a multifaceted approach, combining flexible working solutions with a robust, vetted pool of educational professionals. At Clearly Education, we understand that continuity is key to maintaining the rhythm of learning. 🔄 In the struggle to find cover teachers, we champion the idea of 'readiness and quality'. It's not just about filling a space but doing so with a person who can genuinely contribute to the educational experience of students. That's why we curate a responsive network of talented individuals, ready to step in when schools need them the most. So, what's your strategy? How do you tackle the challenge of finding cover at short notice without compromising on quality? Share your insights below. I had a great visit to some amazing dispatchers in Ascension Parish, Louisiana this week and the topic of new hires came up. With so many PSAPs hiring/training directly from high school and college now I expressed my concerns over how we onboard such young staff who lack practical life and job experience. “Well, Jay, who’s the perfect candidate?” That’s easy, a Waffle House employee. They memorize menus, prices, do math by hand, juggle customers, handle orders and do it all while verbalizing their actions and making chitchat. You won’t find people who multitask better and communicate more efficiently…except dispatchers of course! So while we find new and innovative ways to hire and retain staff, the one component needed for all of them is training in resilience and stress management. We can train people to do anything but if we neglect to train them on how to manage themselves we are setting them up for failure. Now if we could just get waffles in the comm center… 🤔 #911 #training #resilience #911training #publicsafety #hiring #stressmanagament #retention
