Big News from Polestar! ⚡
Polestar, the electric vehicle manufacturer, is set to make significant investments in the West Midlands as it expands its range.
Since opening their R&D center at MIRA Technology Park in Nuneaton in 2019, they've grown from 50 to 500 employees, with plans for even more expansion.
"We see further expansion in the future as our model range grows," says Pete Allen, Head of R&D.
With the upcoming launch of the Polestar 5, partly designed at MIRA, Polestar is gearing up to transform from a three-model company to one with five, six, or even seven models. This growth is essential as the UK moves towards a ban on sales of new petrol and diesel vehicles.
The Midlands is the perfect hub for this expansion, boasting a rich talent pool from motorsport, F1, and the premium automotive sector. Cathy Holmes, a design engineer at Polestar, moved to the region for work and stayed for the abundant opportunities.
"We've got the high-speed tracks, crash labs, and all the test facilities needed right here," adds Steve Swift, Head of Vehicle Engineering.
