Jamaica are the first Caribbean nation to make it through to the Round of 16 👏👏 The 2023 Women’s World Cup is the first time that four teams from the continent of Africa have participated. Three of those teams have made it through to the knock-outs!! ⚽️ This year’s tournament is not only proving the rapid rate at which women’s football is growing and technically improving, but also the expansion of the elite game across the globe… 🌍 The professionalisation of domestic leagues means women and girls are starting to view football as a viable career opportunity, and improvements in talent identification and development programmes globally have helped players reach that potential (albeit much more needs to be done as shown by Jamaica’s journey to the finals). Thanks to this, we are seeing more and more competitive matches making for more exciting tournaments. 🏆 P.s. Big up Bunny Shaw 💙

Hockey 4 Youth, with its novel delivery model, has witnessed tremendous growth during a time when traditional hockey is struggling with lower enrollment numbers. Starting with a single program in one city in 2015, we're now operating 11 programs at schools in 6 cities across Canada, with plans to expand to new cities later this year and start net new programs in the cities we're currently in. Hockey 4 Youth is looking for additional supporters to join our amazing group of existing partners that includes Scotiabank, Rogers Communications, Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities, Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP & National Hockey League (NHL) to help us continue to expand our non-traditional programming model that removes barriers and helps Canadian youth, who otherwise wouldn't have access, onto the ice. Hockey 4 Youth's programs address barriers into hockey for newcomer Canadians & high-priority youth by providing: - Free ice time, equipment & coaching - A safe and inclusive environment to learn to play - Regular ice times once a week during the school year - Practices during or right after the school day at facilities in close proximity to schools - Transportation in the event a rink is not within walking distance 🤗 At Hockey 4 Youth, our motto is 'The only barrier should be the boards'. 🏒 Learn more about Hockey 4 Youth or donate to help more newcomer Canadians and high-priority youth onto the ice: https://hockey4youth.org 📰 Read 'Steady decline in youth hockey participation in Canada raises concerns about the future of the sport' by Stephen Wyno: https://lnkd.in/gVqVYveW #theonlybarriershouldbetheboards #hockey4youth #youthsports #hockeycanada #hockeyforall #hockeyisforeveryone #girlsinsports #sports #womeninsports #nhl
