Can Asia improve its waste collection and recycling rate by agreeing on a common framework for: - Packaging design: should we have PVC, PET or PP labels? Is it okay to direct print on bottles? Should milk bottles have aluminium seals? Can all coffee cups be made from the same polymer? - EPR: How should the liability be set for EPR? Who will receive the funds and how should be funds be used? - Social aspects: are we able to ensure hygienic working conditions and minimum earnings to the waste collectors who are at the bottom of the pyramid? - Marine pollution: if light weight non-recycables are leaking into the ocean, what are the best practices to combat that? If the problems in Asia are similar, wouldnt a common framework get us faster to the end goal? Moreover, we dont need to reinvent the wheel in every country as we can lean on the learnings from APR etc for many issues. Join me and Curt Cozart for a discussion on Harmonising Plastic Recycling Standards and Regulations.

📢 We are delighted to share that Raphaël Jaumotte, PETCORE EUROPE’s Technical Manager, will attend a panel discussion “Driving forces for increased circularity", organized by AMI. ✅ Save the Date: 6th of June to meet us up at the AMI’s fifth Chemical Recycling event that takes place in Brussels. 🔔‘’At PETCORE EUROPE we have 15 members developing and deploying depolymerization technologies and it is essential that they get support through the market demand and a proper regulatory framework. This will only be possible if all stakeholders understand that advanced recycling plays a tremendous role in it and will unlock possibilities for a vast amount of non recyclable plastics.” - Raphaël Jaumotte. 🔄 With high expectations on capacity due to come online before the end of the decade, chemical recycling has continued to grip the attention of the plastics industry. However, there are still challenges to be addressed to enable the industry to scale and contribute towards recycling targets in Europe before key deadlines in 2025. Last week part of Team Chemistry attended the Circular Plastics Project Launch in Utrecht. Through the Circular Plastics NL subsidy program, four projects have been awarded grants: UPTYRE (€1.4 million), Monitoring Quality in Plastic Recycling (€1.9 million), TEXPOWER (€4.7 million), SKILLS (€2.9 million) and Cap-to-cap (€ 7.4 million). Additionally, Circular Plastics NL has earmarked €30 million for a new call in 2024, demonstrating a continued commitment to driving innovation in the plastic industry by identifying key topics and challenges in the market. Following a positive evaluation of the program's interim review, a budget of €43 million is expected for the periods 2025 and 2026. #Subsidy #Grantwriting #Innovation #CircularPlastic #PlasticRecycling

Mulch films represent the second largest share of plastic films used in agriculture. However, retrieving, recycling, and reusing conventional plastics pose serious problems. #Mulchfilms made from soil-biodegradable plastics are specifically designed to biodegrade effectively in situ and can therefore be incorporated into the #soil post-harvest. Learn more about the benefits of #soilbiodegradable mulch films and why we advocate for them to be in the EU Fertilising Products Regulation (#FPR)👇 🔗https://lnkd.in/eMQwXhh2
