School Nursing Program Impact Alert! What a gift to receive the following feedback this week: Chloe - our newest nurse- shared in our L10 that she had a conversation with [School's Name] principal the other day. He said that originally he "actively voted against having school nurses and thought it was a waste of money. In just the last month of her being there I have become a true school nurse believer and supporter. I cannot be happier and more grateful to have school nurses!" When it comes to impact and outcomes there is no secret sauce. For us, it all boils down to authentic, relationship-based care. Being intentional about meeting people where they are and demonstrating, through our actions and words, how much we care. #Impact #Engagement #SchoolNursing #StudentHealth #Relationships

"State laws and recommendations vary widely, with nurse-to-student ratios ranging from 1:500 in states like Alabama and Vermont to 1:3,000 in Tennessee. However, these ratios are not always adhered to, and many districts do not meet the bare minimum recommended staffing levels." Robin Cogan MEd, RN, NCSN, FNASN, FAAN penned a thoughtful article about the nurse-to-student ratio in schools. A more comprehensive, customizable approach to school staffing needs to evolve. #SchoolNursing #SchoolNurse #NursingShortage

It can be difficult to manage different areas of care in nursing when you’ve been out of bedside care. It can be difficult to support medical needs in the school setting when bedside nursing is your main focus. Then you must add the nursing setting in the physician’s office. Understanding how to support the medical needs of students prek-12th grades is so important and not necessarily a totally understood concept BUT it must be recognized! It is essential for the future educators, lawyers, doctors, nurses and more, for many generations to come! Educators, School Administrators, School Nurse, School Clinic Workers, parents/guardians MUST come together to support our future leaders in their educational endeavors! Please support every single person who is there to help guide our future leaders as they grow to learn and learn to be healthy so they can grow! #youcan’tlearnifyou’renothealthy#youmustlearntobehealthytolearn
