Last week we invited community members to join us for an event honoring the 50th anniversary of the 1974 court-ordered busing decision and The Boston Globe’s recently published editorial coverage on the Boston Busing Crisis, Broken Promises, Unfulfilled Hope. We gathered Boston Globe reporters and community leaders, including some who were directly involved in the busing decision, for a two part panel discussion where we looked back at this historic decision, examining where we are now as a community and what we can continue to strive for in the future. https://lnkd.in/e8eVCY3a

It will be interesting to gain insights into how other people from all backgrounds perceive the concept of race. If I were to describe “race” in just six words I’d say: Antiquated ideology to justify superiority complex. Or maybe: Hands are up, please don’t shoot. How would you describe race in six words? #wordsmatter #planetword #racecardproject
How do we talk about race in America? Find out at Planet Word on May 30 with Peabody Award-winning journalist Michele Norris. Her book, Our Hidden Conversations, which is based on her decade of work with The Race Card Project, shows the power of six words to spark transformative dialogue on race. Planet Word believes that Words Matter. And we believe that it matters how we use them: to build bridges or to divide — our choice. We’re thrilled to kick off our new series, Having Hard Conversations, with Norris and explore the impact of race in America through her insightful book. Don’t miss this special evening!
