MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. ā€“ An investigation is ongoing after a fatal hit-and-run in Miami-Dade County.

According to authorities, 18-year-old Kevin Chaparro was riding his bike early Monday morning when police say he was hit by a vehicle and left for dead.

Video from a neighborā€™s home captured the crash that happened off Southwest 127th Avenue and 32nd Terrace.

Police believe the driver was in a white Jeep Wrangler.

According to family members, Chaparro was heading home after watching a soccer match when he was hit, and the driver never stopped to help.

Chaparro had just moved to South Florida from Colombia to attend Millennia Atlantic University on a soccer scholarship.

His parents spoke to Local 10 Newsā€™ Bridgette Matter from Colombia via Zoom and said he was their only child, and they were close, speaking every day.

They are trying to figure out a way to scrape money together to travel to Miami and bring Chaparro back to Colombia.

Miami-Dade detectives are hoping someone out there might recognize the Jeep and help lead them to the driver responsible.
