California High School Softball - Franklin tipped by Davis
March 27, 2015: Elk Grove, CA 95757 The Davis Blue Devils softball team scored 11 runs and limited the host Franklin Wildcats to 9 in the Blue Devils league triumph on Friday.
With the triumph, Davis moves its record to 9-3 on the year. The Blue Devils travel to Christian Brothers (Sacramento, CA) to clash with the Falcons in a non-league game on Tuesday, March 31. The Falcons come into the game with a record of 4-4.
In their next game, the Wildcats clash with the St. Francis Troubadours (Sacramento, CA) in a game, on Wednesday, April 8. Franklin will attempt to improve on its 0-1 season record.
Game Summary
The Davis Blue Devils started slowly on Friday afternoon falling behind the Franklin Wildcats 7-3 early. But by scoring 3 runs in the 4th and 2 more each in the 5th and 6th innings, Davis came back for the victory and improved its overall record to 9-3 and evened its league record to 2-2. Rebeca Engelhard started the game in the circle for Davis. The Blue Devil offense was again sparked by its top three hitters in the lineup. Taylor Trinidad, Patti Swimley, and Shasta Wickham accounted for 7 of the 11 runs scored and 7 of its team's 11 hits. The Devil defense was led by Mikayla Stilwell's solid play in LF. The story of the game however was the appearance of Abbie DeWit in the circle in the 4th inning. DeWit, who hadn't pitched all year, came in with runners in scoring position and one out and effectively got out of the jam by throwing just two pitches. She gave up no earned runs in her 3 and 2/3 innings and secured the win for the Blue Devils.
