Louisiana High School Basketball - Tampa Catholic holds off Brother Martin
December 27, 2010: New Orleans, LA 70122 Fans at Monday's non-league challenge between the Tampa Catholic Crusaders (Tampa, FL) and the host Brother Martin Crusaders (New Orleans, LA), saw Tampa Catholic's basketball squad hold off Brother Martin by a score of 58-55.
With the victory, Tampa Catholic improves its record to 8-3 on the campaign. The Crusaders host St. Petersburg Catholic (St. Petersburg, FL) to play the Barons in a 3A District 10 challenge on Wednesday, January 5. The Barons come into the challenge with a record of 3-4. St. Petersburg Catholic lost 65-56 in their recent non-league challenge against Pinellas Park (Largo, FL)
Next up, the Crusaders play the East St. John Wildcats (Reserve, LA) in a non-league challenge, on Monday, January 3. Brother Martin will attempt to improve on its 10-4 season record. The Wildcats come into the challenge with a 5-7 record after their 55-54 non-league loss to McDonogh 35 (New Orleans, LA).

Tampa Catholic started strong with a press and got off to an early lead, but Brother Martin closed the gap to 2 by the end of the quarter.

Teams played evenly, leaving a one point difference at the half.
Third Quarter
Tampa Catholic's press pushed them to an early lead in the quarter and the defense held Brother Martin to 8 points, giving TC a 5 point lead at the end of the quarter.
Fourth Quarter
Tampa Catholic managed to get to the foul line 24 times and convert 17 to help maintain the three point lead
