On Tuesday, Spring Valley faced Parkersburg in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Spring Valley managed a 66-60 victory over Parkersburg. The victory was just what Spring Valley needed coming off of a 60-29 loss in their prior game.
Meanwhile, Hurricane struggled with threes on Monday (Ravenswood had five more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Hurricane was the victim of a tough 64-42 loss at the hands of Ravenswood. Hurricane has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Alexandra Anderson and Hadleigh McGoskey. McGoskey had a great game and scored 31 points. Meanwhile, Anderson did her best for the losing side, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Hurricane smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 30 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Spring Valley's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Hurricane, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.
Spring Valley took their victory against Hurricane when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 56-30. The rematch might be a little tougher for Spring Valley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
