It was a good run, but the Franklin Wildcats unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of Davis Sr. by a score of 42-39. Franklin was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Davis Sr. apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Franklin's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tasiana Carr, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Aletha Singleton, who scored nine points.
Tessa Schouten was her usual excellent self, scoring 14 points along with nine rebounds for Davis Sr. Izzy Cherry was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Franklin's loss dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Davis Sr., they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklin will take on Elk Grove at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Elk Grove is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Davis Sr., Davis Sr. and Grant will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Grant is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.6 points per game.
