If the Broad Run Spartans were riding high off their 78-48 takedown of the Park View Patriots last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Broad Run fell just short of Stone Bridge by a score of 58-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Stone Bridge had a senior duo take command as Omar Abushaban dropped a double-double on 19 points and 24 rebounds and Jordan Moore scored 16 points. Abushaban is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last ten games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Stanford, who scored seven points.
Broad Run's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Stone Bridge, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Broad Run will square off against Loudoun County at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Broad Run has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 457 points over their last seven contests. As for Stone Bridge, they and Independence will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Independence is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season.
