The Franklin Wildcats came tearing into Friday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Davis Sr. by a score of 57-48. For Franklin, this counts as revenge for the 42-39 defeat Davis Sr. walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Franklin was led to victory by Aletha Singleton and Tasiana Carr. Singleton scored nine points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Carr scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ellyana Estacio, who scored six points.
Despite the loss, Davis Sr. still got an impressive performance from Tessa Schouten, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Schouten is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Cherry, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Franklin's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-9. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.5 points per game. As for Davis Sr., their loss dropped their record down to 15-11.
Franklin will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Cosumnes Oaks at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Franklin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Friday. As for Davis Sr., they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Francis at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Davis Sr. is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.2 points per game this season.
