John Paul II's loss on Wednesday came despite strong showings from Joseph Mata and Eliseo Garcia. Mata dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds, while Garcia scored 16 points along with three steals. Mata has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 13 times he's played.
Hill Country Christian School of Austin pushed their record up to 21-2 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.5 points per game. As for John Paul II, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-20 record this season.
