The Parkersburg Big Reds's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 79-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Huntington. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Huntington can attribute much of their success to Mikey Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Avonte Crawford, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds.
Parkersburg's loss was their third straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-3. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Huntington, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Parkersburg will be home for the holidays to greet Parkersburg South at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Huntington will be home for the holidays to greet Wheeling Park at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Wheeling Park presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Huntington in West Virginia (Wheeling Park is ranked seventh, while Huntington is ranked 48th).
