The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Laguna Creek in their matchups with Grant: they've now lost four in a row.
Grant got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Samaya Dillard out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds. Dillard hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. Nerissa Hamilton was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Laguna Creek's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Grant, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Laguna Creek's road trip will continue as they head out to face Davis Sr. at 6:30 p.m. on January 25th. Davis Sr. presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Laguna Creek in California (Davis Sr. is ranked 263rd, while Laguna Creek is ranked 817th). As for Grant, they will head out on the road to challenge River City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Belania Ibal Hernandez and Dillard.
