After a string of three wins, the Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell 43-36 to Franklin. Cosumnes Oaks was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Franklin apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Cosumnes Oaks' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caitlin Subejano, who scored 20 points. That was a full 55.6% of Cosumnes Oaks' points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Mendenhall, who scored six points.
Franklin found their leader in underclassman Tasiana Carr, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Ellyana Estacio was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with four blocks and two steals.
Cosumnes Oaks' defeat dropped their record down to 16-11. As for Franklin, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season.
Cosumnes Oaks will look to defend their home court on Friday against Sheldon at 6:30 p.m. Sheldon is coming into the matchup with three straight defeats on the road, meaning Cosumnes Oaks will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. As for Franklin, they will take on Elk Grove at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Elk Grove comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last eight games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
