Grand Oaks is 8-2 against Willis since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Grand Oaks Grizzlies will head out on the road to take on the Willis Wildkats at 1:00 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Wednesday, Grand Oaks humbled Cleveland with a 72-35 victory. That 37 point margin sets a new team best for Grand Oaks this season.
Meanwhile, even though Oak Ridge scored an imposing 65 points on Wednesday, Willis still came out on top. Willis took their matchup against Oak Ridge 76-65. Given Willis' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while Oak Ridge is ranked 905th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Willis' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bryce Bass, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds. Jermaine Bishop jr was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Grand Oaks has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-15 record this season. As for Willis, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-11.
Grand Oaks came up short against Willis when the teams last played back in January, falling 68-61. Can Grand Oaks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
