The Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack will head out on the road to face off against the Antelope Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Cosumnes Oaks blew past Sheldon, posting a 75-40 win at home. Given Cosumnes Oaks' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while Sheldon is ranked 642nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Antelope came tearing into Thursday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 43 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 81-43 win over Inderkum.
Antelope had a senior duo take command as Isabella Azzolino scored 20 points and Michelle Rice scored 16 points. Azzolino has been hot recently, having posted 20 or more points the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Naomi Johnson, who scored 11 points.
Cosumnes Oaks pushed their record up to 17-11 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points per game. As for Antelope, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.
Cosumnes Oaks took a serious blow against Antelope in their previous meeting back in February of 2018, falling 64-37. Can Cosumnes Oaks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
