The Valley Vikings's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight defeat. They were dealt a 60-30 loss at the hands of Foothill. Valley was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Foothill apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Despite the loss, Valley saw an underclassman step up: Jordyn Gibson scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. That was a full 60% of Valley's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Zeniah Thompson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Foothill, scoring 25 points. Another player making a difference was Joyce Runner, who scored 11 points.
Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-21 record this season. As for Foothill, their victory bumped their record up to 10-14.
Valley will look to defend their home court on Friday against Natomas at 7:30 p.m. As for Foothill, they will head out on the road to face off against Johnson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Iris Vang and Thompson.
