Ryder Lyons helped No. 25
Folsom (Calif.) register a 63-20 blowout win over Long Beach Poly in the season-opener Friday, throwing two touchdowns and running for an unforgettable score.
As seen in the video, Folsom was up 20-7 lead with less than 30 seconds remaining in the first half when Lyons took the shotgun snap, scrambled and evaded at least five defenders before barrelling into the end zone like Josh Allen.
"I'm probably the most competitive person out here so if I feel there's
any chance of me being able to score I'm gonna go for that and it may be
a flaw, but my body doesn't like to go down," Lyons told MaxPreps after the game.
Lyons, rated as the No. 2 quarterback in the Class of 2026 according to 247Sports, accounted for 277 yards of total offense and three touchdowns in Folsom's surprisingly lopsided victory.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Lyons accounted for 61 touchdowns and led Folsom to a Division 1A state championship as a sophomore in 2023. The Bulldogs host
Junipero Serra (San Mateo, Calif.) in a marquee Northern California matchup next week.
