If the Hammond Morton Governors were riding high off their 89-60 takedown of the Marquette Catholic Blazers last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Hammond Morton took a 75-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of Griffith on Tuesday. Hammond Morton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Griffith apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Savon Miles was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 30 points and nine rebounds for Griffith. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Miles has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gianni Feaster, who scored five points along with three steals.
Hammond Morton dropped their record down to 6-13 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Griffith, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hammond Morton will take on Calumet New Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Calumet New Tech focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday. As for Griffith, they will head out on the road to face off against Highland at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Highland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 last Thursday.
