Bowling Green is 9-1 against Owensboro since September of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Bowling Green Purples will play host again and welcome the Owensboro Red Devils, where kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
With a playoff game on the line, Bowling Green rose to the challenge on Friday. They blew past Fairdale, posting a 51-14 win at home. 51 seems to be a good number for Bowling Green as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Among those leading the charge was Deuce Bailey, who threw for 97 yards and four touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Owensboro had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 42 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 43-7 victory over Atherton. Given Owensboro's advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky football rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Atherton is ranked 62nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bowling Green's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.0 points per game. As for Owensboro, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
Bowling Green strolled past Owensboro in their previous matchup back in August by a score of 42-28. Will Bowling Green repeat their success, or does Owensboro have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
