The El Dorado Cougars lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Friday was a bit more commanding. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 60-40 walloping at the hands of Liberty Ranch. El Dorado was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Despite the loss, El Dorado still got an impressive performance from Alana Schneider, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds.
Liberty Ranch's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Haley Smith led the charge by scoring 15 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds. Smith has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times she's played. Sophia Felix was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for El Dorado and nudges their season record down to 15-11. As for Liberty Ranch, their win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-5.
El Dorado will take on the The Pride at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bradshaw Christian has now lost 18 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 27. As for Liberty Ranch, they will head out on the road to challenge the Wolverine at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rosemont is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
