The El Dorado Cougars waltzed into their matchup on Friday with five straight wins but they left with six. They breezed by Galt at home to the tune of 60-20. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 32-12.
It was another big night for Alana Schneider, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 20 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 18 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kali Cusic, who scored 12 points along with six steals and five assists.
Galt's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Akayla-Joy Gunter, who scored seven points.
El Dorado is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 15-9 record this season. As for Galt, their loss dropped their record down to 3-20.
El Dorado will head out on the road to challenge the Diamondbacks at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Union Mine focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Friday. As for Galt, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Averaging 58.08 points so far this season, Liberty Ranch's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so the Warriors better be ready for a challenge.
