The Franklin Wildcats will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Kennedy Cougars at 5:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Franklin entered their tilt with Elk Grove with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Franklin breezed by Elk Grove on the road to the tune of 65-21 on Friday. Given Franklin's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while Elk Grove is ranked 1043rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Kennedy blew past Laguna Creek, posting a 61-18 win on the road.
It was another big night for Kacie Shinmoto, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. She has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last three times she's played. Kaylee Wong was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Franklin is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season. As for Kennedy, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 16-9.
Franklin came up short against Kennedy in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, falling 63-50. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Shinmoto, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds.
