Sep. 8: SS (left hamstring strain; No. 1 on D-backs Top 30 Prospect list) activated by Double-A Amarillo
Lawlar was assigned to Double-A Amarillo and activated from the injured list on Sunday. The D-backs' top prospect (No. 8 overall, per MLB Pipeline) re-injured his left hamstring in July, two games into a rehab assignment in the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League after initially injuring it legging out a triple in the ninth inning of Triple-A Reno’s June 15 game.

Sept. 6: C OK after being hit on helmet
Herrera left Friday’s 8-0 loss to the Astros in the fifth inning for precautionary reasons after getting hit on the top of the helmet by Kyle Tucker’s backswing, with manager Torey Lovullo providing an update after the game.

"He’s doing OK,” Lovullo said. “He got through all of his testing just fine, and I’ve actually got him in the lineup tomorrow. He was removed from the game strictly for precautionary reasons to make sure he was OK, get through the protocol, which he did, so we’re in a good spot. He’s a very tough kid. You normally don’t see him lying on the ground like that. He was begging me to stay in the game, and I said, ‘Under no circumstances.'"

10-day/15-day injured list

C (left adductor strain)
Expected return: Mid-September
Moreno had five at-bats in a simulated game on Sept. 5, but he didn’t run, manager Torey Lovullo said.

"The catching aspect, getting on his knees and blocking, we haven’t gotten to that point yet, but he’s feeling good enough to take the at-bats, and they’re full intensity, and he feels really good,” Lovullo said.

Moreno left the D-backs’ game on Aug. 5 in the second inning after running out a ground-ball single, landing on the 10-day IL on Aug. 6. An MRI showed a strained left adductor muscle and Lovullo said Moreno will be out “weeks, not days," but remains optimistic that the catcher will be able to return before the end of the season. Expected return: Mid-September
Gurriel, who exited the D-backs' game on Sept. 1 with tightness in his left calf, is still in the treatment phase and hasn’t resumed any baseball activities yet, manager Torey Lovullo said on Sept. 6. Gurriel landed on the 10-day IL (retroactive to Sept. 2) after imaging revealed a strain. Both Gurriel and Lovullo said the injury is not considered serious, with the hope that Gurriel can return after missing minimal time. (Last updated: Sept. 6)
