  • CLE Tackle #71
It’s possible this is a maintenance day for Wills, who was limited in Wednesday’s practice but is just days removed from being activated off the PUP list. Wills has already said he won’t start on Sunday against the Cowboys, which could put James Hudson in line to protect Deshaun Watson’s blind side.
  • CLE Wide Receiver #3
Jeudy cropped up with a knee injury early in camp but still managed to practice in some capacity throughout August. A full practice to open the week suggests he is good to go for Week 1. Jeudy should immediately step in as the Browns’ No. 2 receiver opposite Amari Cooper, giving him a clear path to a strong fantasy season. The big caveat is that he needs Deshaun Watson needs to turn things around in short order. If Watson comes close to living up to the hype that surrounded his arrival in Cleveland, Jeudy could finally emerge as a fantasy WR2.
  • CLE Running Back #34
The report helpfully affirms prior fantasy market assumptions about Ford’s likely role. The Browns’ Weeks 1-4 schedule includes the Cowboys, Jaguars, Giants and Raiders. Ford’s access to high-volume touch counts helps keep him RB2/3-viable against these stacked defensive fronts. Russo also lists veteran D’Onta Foreman in the No. 2 running back spot, having "[demonstrated during] his two preseason games how he can catch out of the backfield and be utilized as a power back, having success in short yardage situations.”
  • CLE Defensive Back #21
Ward clearing concussion protocol with more than a week to go before the start of the season is a good sign for his Week 1 availability. The Browns’ CB1 earned a PFF coverage grade of 69.8 last season, allowing opposing receivers to go for 34-467-3 on 66 targets. Ward will have his work cut out for him out of the gate, as he’s expected to see a lot of CeeDee Lamb in the season-opener.
  • CLE Tackle #78
Conklin is back on the practice field after being activated from the PUP list earlier in the week. If he doesn’t suffer any setbacks between now and then, he’ll have a good chance of suiting up for Week 1’s matchup against the Cowboys. Teams will release their first official injury reports next week, which should give us a better sense of his availability, but that Conklin avoiding being placed on injured reserve to start the season is a good sign.
  • CLE Running Back #27
Foreman was part of the initial cutdown, but his release was thought to be a procedural move while the Browns figure out what to do elsewhere with their roster. His re-signing, which was first reported by Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz, follows the release of Tyler Huntley, who is now free to sign with any team after a strong preseason. Foreman will combine with Pierre Strong to back up Jerome Ford while Nick Chubb (knee) continues to rehab from last year’s season-ending injury. He’s an interesting stash for the time being but doesn’t have any stand-alone upside.
  • CLE Quarterback #4
According to Yates, the Browns converted $44.79 million of Watson’s 2024 base salary into a signing bonus, which created $35.832 million in cap space. Yates also adds that the Browns now have over $62 million in cap space available to them — the most of any team in the league. Watson is just days away from making his Week 1 start against the Cowboys. He’s dealt with some arm soreness issues over the last few weeks and missed the preseason finale as a result. He’ll be a player to monitor as he looks to fully bounce back from last year’s season-ending shoulder injury.
  • CLE Defensive Back #21
Head coach Kevin Stefanski said the veteran cornerback has been cleared to resume practicing, indicating he is now in the final stages of the league’s mandated concussion protocol. Ward suffered his fifth concussion since 2018 two weeks ago, making it at least something to monitor as the regular season draws nearer.
  • FA Running Back #27
ESPN’s Field Yates — who knows what he’s talking about — speculates it could just be a procedural move as the Browns play cut-down day musical chairs, but at least for now, he’s a free agent. It would be a stunning move with Nick Chubb on the PUP list and Jerome Ford the only other viable Week 1 back on the roster. We would assume Yates is correct and Foreman will be “back” sometime in the next 48 hours.
  • CLE Running Back #22
Hines, who injured his knee in a jet ski accident in 2023, is still working his way back to full health and will miss the first four weeks of the regular season, and possibly more. Hines and Nick Chubb will remain on the PUP list while Jerome Ford and D’Onta Foreman will be the Browns’ top two backs to start the season. Ford, who last year had more than 1,100 total yards following Chubb’s injury, figures to be the lead back for now.
