Pediatric Ophthalmology (Eye Care)

Kids’ Eye and Vision Experts

Pediatric ophthalmologists are surgeons who specialize in treating eye disorders in babies and children. Nemours Children's treats nearly every childhood eye condition in kids from birth to age 18.

We identify and treat eye issues early to reduce the chances of long-term vision problems. Our doctors have special expertise in treating complex eye issues in premature babies.

We can do many eye procedures, including laser surgery, without the need for an overnight stay. We’ll arrange care with other specialists your child may see. This way, you can see several doctors on the same day, in the same place.

Nemours is working to create a healthier world for children. Helping children see better is one way we’re living up to our mission.

We can provide any eye service or treatment your child needs. From screenings and tests to treating eye injuries and chronic conditions, our ophthalmology team provides the broadest range of services.

We have experienced, highly skilled eye surgeons. Our pediatric ophthalmologists are board-certified and fellowship-trained at nationally recognized institutions. They provide the highest level of surgical and medical care for complex eye problems.

We’re advancing research for childhood eye disorders. We’re actively looking for new and better ways to detect and treat strabismus (cross-eyes), amblyopia (lazy eye) and retinopathy of prematurity (abnormal blood vessel growth). We’re also researching vision issues related to sickle cell disease and brain damage.

We’re part of a multicenter network. We work with the Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group, which means we learn from and share information with hundreds of pediatric eye care experts nationwide to research eye disorders.
