The underwater middle school closes and Hikari, Manaka, Chisaki, and Kaname must attend school on land. Manaka gets caught in a net and meets Tsumugu.
Hikari spies Tsumugu and Manaka talking and barks that land people should stay away from the sea village. Later though, they make wood dolls together.
Akari is being taken away by the sea village elders. Hikari and friends try to stop them but learn dating land people is punishable by banishment.
Hikari is upset on hearing Akari is dating Miuna Shiodome’s father, Itaru, but refuses to help Miuna break them up. The next day in home economics...
Akari reveals her feelings for Itaru to Lord Uroko and Tomoru. Meanwhile, when Chisaki runs into Tsumugu he questions her feelings and she opens up.
Swim class fans Hikari’s rivalry with Tsumugu. Tsumugu’s swimming prowess shakes him up, and he hits his foot at the pool, losing a toenail.
The Ojoshi-sama figure is complete and Tsumugu proposes reviving the joint land/sea Ofunehiki festival. Hikari asks Tsumugu to be the land organizer.
Akari decides to live with Itaru and Hikari stays with them. He learns Miuna wants to let Akari know how much she really likes her.
Lord Uroko tells of the disaster in store. Meanwhile on land, teachers and classmates scramble to prepare for the cancelled Ofunehiki festival.
Hikari drags Manaka and friends along to negotiate directly with Lord Uroko to hold the Ofunehiki so they can restore the weakened Sea God’s power.
Kaname professes his love to Chisaki, but she is reticent. Hikari and Manaka’s relationship changes as they prepare for hibernation and Ofunehiki.
Akari says she will ride the boat in place of Ojoshi-sama. Miuna and Sayu pick flowers for a bouquet to give Akari and encounter Tomoru on land.
Hikari reveals his feelings to Manaka. On the day of Ofunehiki and their hibernation the 4 friends pay their respects to Lord Uroko and head for land.
Five years later. Hikari and Manaka’s whereabouts unknown, Chisaki is a studying nursing, Tsumugu is at college, and Itaru and Akari have a son.
Hikari seems unchanged before his friends on a fated day 5 years later. Aghast to learn the world is still frozen, he has no memory after Ofunehiki.
Hikari goes back to school at Mihama Middle School and is in Miuna and Sayu’s class. The next Sunday Hikari and Miuna go out to get him a new uniform.
Kaname wakes from hibernation and is slightly shocked to see Tsumugu and Chisaki greet him together. He can only recall the sound of flowing sand.
Hikari, Kaname and Miuna go underwater in search of Shioshishio and find it covered in snow. Hikari and Kaname visit their homes and Miuna the school.
Hikari & co. find Manaka still asleep in Ojoshi-sama’s graveyard and bring her on land. Isamu tells Chisaki there is more to the story of Ojoshi-sama.
Manaka has not stirred in a week, and Hikari and the others seek out a remedy in Shioshishio. Sayu makes a comment awakening Miuna to her feelings.
Manaka suddenly wakens and it is decided she will stay with Itaru. She seems happy to be reunited with everyone, but Hikari finds her smile strange.
Hikari and the others believe Lord Uroko is on land when a fish face appears on Tsumugu’s elbow, and begin a search. Manaka’s good cheer seems forced.
Hikari and Miuna learn Manaka has lost her ability to fall in love. They consult everyone to find a solution but are surprised by some responses.
Tsumugu dives after Chisaki and tells her of his feelings in Shioshishio, but she runs off. Meanwhile, Manaka receives a letter from Akira.
To curb the saltflake snow threat and return Manaka’s feelings, Hikari and friends decide to hold the Ofunehiki again. The day before the festival...
Miuna is swallowed by the Sea God’s eddy to save Manaka and then enfolded in an Ena. Hikari is troubled when he learns of Manaka and Miuna’s feelings.
