Lou passed away peacefully on July 7th, 2024 at Cox South Hospital after a courageous fight with ovarian cancer surrounded by her loving family. Lou was born on February 12th, 1938 on the family farm outside of Saint Paul, Kansas. Born the 10th of 16 children to Lawrence and Nellie Kennedy she was never lonely nor bored. She had 7 sisters and 8 brothers.

After graduating from high school, she moved to California to work as a telephone operator. After moving back to Kansas she went to work for Hallmark Cards. In 1958 she met the love of her life, Tom Kennedy, and this November, they would’ve celebrated their 65th anniversary. She was an avid bowler and loved the relationships she had with all of her teammates. She also enjoyed playing the penny slot machines, and was a solitaire player extraordinaire along with couples bridge. To spend more time with her husband, she even played couples league golf at Fremont Hills CC. Her proudest accomplishment was being a stay at home mother to her three children. She was a long time member of Immaculate Conception Church.

She is survived by her husband, Tom, and her three children, Todd, Ozark, Missouri, Troy (Beth) Springfield, Missouri and Tammi Kennedy (Tom Gregg) of Kansas City, Missouri and five grandchildren.

Services will be held Tuesday, July 16 at Greenlawn East Funeral home. Visitation at 1 PM followed by a service at 2 PM. A Celebration of Life will follow from 4 PM to 7 PM at Twin Oaks Country Club. In appreciation of Lou’s love of flowers, the children ask that everyone wear bright and cheerful colors to the service.

In lieu of flowers the family asked for donations to be made to www.gynca.org GYN Cancer Alliance 3039 S. Fort Ave. Suite A Springfield, MO 65807 in her honor.

The family would like to extend its appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of Cox South hospital for their compassionate care.
