Springfield man struck by car July 13 has died. Police still searching for driver

A Springfield man has died as a result of injuries from a July crash, according to the Springfield Police Department.

John Slaner, 33, died Aug. 3 from injuries sustained when he was hit by a car July 13, the police department said.

Officers responded to a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian at Hayes Avenue and Blaine Street around 9 p.m. July 13, according to the SPD report. Slaner had been walking on Blaine Street when he was hit by an unknown vehicle and officers found him unresponsive on the scene. He was taken to a hospital.

The driver of the vehicle has not yet been identified and the circumstances of the crash are part of an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is requested to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or the tips hotline at 417-869-TIPS.
