Chef Isaac and Amanda Toups,

the owners of Mid-City restaurant Toups’ Meatery, have started their summer family meal initiative to feed 525 food-insecure kids in New Orleans. The couple and their team put together 1,100 turkey-and-cheese sandwiches and 525 bean, rice and chicken meals along with fruit, oatmeal, snacks and cereal for their first delivery last Tuesday. The Toups will deliver meals Tuesdays and Fridays through the summer. They’re seeking volunteer drivers and welcome donations. The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority

will use a $5.5 million grant from the Federal Transit Administration to expand accessibility to the St. Charles streetcar line for riders with disabilities. The grant comes from the FTA’s All Stations Accessibility Program, and the city will use it to design and make stops along the historic St. Charles line fully wheelchair accessible.
