Acadiana: FOCUS Clubhouse, Inc., 1609 Johnston St., Lafayette, has a mission to offer people living with mental illness opportunities for friendship and the resources to find employment, housing, education, medical and psychiatric services in a single caring, and safe environment. This social and economic inclusion reverses the alarming trend of higher suicide, hospitalization, and incarceration rates associated with mental illness.

Baton Rouge: The Louisiana Art & Science Museum, 100 S. River Road, Baton Rouge, has a mission to enhance the understanding and appreciation of art and science for general audiences and students by presenting unique, educational and entertaining experiences that encourage discovery, inspire creativity and foster the pursuit of knowledge.

New Orleans: New Orleans Council on Aging Senior Companion Program, 2475 Canal St., New Orleans, helps seniors through this program, where people age 55 and older provide assistance and friendship to homebound adults. Senior Companions serve frail older adults and their caregivers, adults with disabilities and those with terminal illnesses. Senior Companions usually serve two to four clients on a weekly basis, serving 20-40 hours a week.

Shreveport/Bossier: Sci-Port Discovery Center, 820 Clyde Fant Parkway, Shreveport, provides a fun, educational environment for people of all ages to explore and actively engage in the world of mathematics, science and technology. Sci-Port serves to spark curiosity about the world, provides hands-on tools for using scientific discovery in everyday life and encourages a passion for lifelong learning.
