The large field at George Carver Playground isn’t officially a dog park, but the sports teams and recreation programs that took place there for years have long disappeared.

“You don’t see a lot of kids playing there anymore. The kids are afraid of the dogs,” said neighborhood resident Reginald Tyler. 

Gwen Tyler, Reginald’s sister, remembers working concessions during events as a young girl. There were sports teams and cheerleading squads. There was family day where kids would get trophies and many other celebrations.
