CHALMETTE HIGH SCHOOL: Di’Mond Jackson has been named girls basketball coach for the Owls. She most recently served as the assistant coach at Ben Franklin High School. A two-time All-Conference and first-team NAIA selection, Jackson was named as the 2018 Conference Defensive Player of the Year while at Loyola University, where she was inducted recently into the Loyola University Athletic Hall of Fame.

FOOTBALL CLINIC: The U.S. Marine Corps Sports Leadership Academy will train local high school athletes at its Built to Lead Football event July 13 at Hoss Memstas Stadium, 2200 8th St. in Harvey. The clinics include instruction in football skills and leadership from elite local coaches. Various challenges will push them to their physical limits, building character and encouraging teamwork.
