St. Tammany Parish sheriff's deputies with dogs were searching a marsh area near Slidell Thursday afternoon for a suspect wanted in connection with a string of vehicle burglaries.
Lt. Carli Messina, a St. Tammany Sheriff's Office spokesperson, said one other suspect was in custody.
She said "mutliple" vehicles were burglarized overnight in the Bluffs subdivision. Messina said thieves targeted unlocked vehicles and that a number of handuns were among the items reported stolen.
She said the Sheriff's Office urges residents to lock their vehicles.
"If you live in this area and your vehicle was burglarized and you have not done so already, please call (985) 898-2338 to report it," the Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post.
