Election 2024 (copy)

Former President Donald Trump, right and shown here at a May 1, 2024 campaign rally in Waukesha, Wis., likely will win in Louisiana in November, according to a poll commissioned by The Advocate | The Times-Picayune. He faces President Joe Biden, shown here May 2, 2024 speaking in Wilmington, N.C. Just six months before Election Day, Biden and Trump are locked into the first presidential rematch in 68 years that is at once deeply entrenched and highly in flux as many voters are only just beginning to embrace the reality of the 2024 presidential election.

There is no doubt that President Joe Biden’s debate performance was dismal. Please keep the following in mind when evaluating the debate.

The president does not perform debates as part of his duties. When policy or international issues arise, the president convenes his Cabinet and other qualified and knowledgeable staff to advise him on the appropriate details. Then, once all of the relevant truthful information is gathered and discussed, a decision is made. To inform the general population on a major issue, the president may give a speech reading a prepared statement from a teleprompter. This speech should mirror the written version given to the appropriate parties.

The president should not make a decision based solely on facts he recalls. There is just too much information for one person to know it all. The job of the president is to gather the information, and then make the decision that is best for the country.
