Let's get real for once. This is not the godless country many would have us believe, but neither are we one nation under God. We are a nation founded on democratic principles and a rule of law that was borrowed from the Greeks, the Romans and various other extinct dynasties.
The framers of our Constitution knew all too well the dangers of mixing government and religion. It was always their intention to keep the two separate and as far apart as possible. The Ten Commandments and the Bible have no place in a public school classroom, any more than math books and microscopes do in a Sunday school setting.
Truth be told, we are a nation of that worships many different gods or, for that matter, no gods at all. And it's this sacred right that must be defended at all costs against the self-righteous and self-indulgent voices of the far right.
