via (preposition)

Although it was originally a foreign word, via (Latin for “way”) has been assimilated into English and is not italicized.

The preposition via originally referred to the direction or route of a journey.

• Marie-Hélène preferred driving from Ottawa to Toronto via Highway 7.

Now this preposition also means the method or way something is done.

• Did Luc send the statistics via the Internet?
• Sylvia will advertise via newspaper, radio and television.
• Josh tried to increase his stamina via a rigorous fitness routine.
