In an age of smartphone cameras, social media, and "scan to PDF" apps, printers aren't the must-have devices they once were, but everyone needs to print a label, form, or work doc every now and then. Prices have dropped, so picking up a compact and affordable printer is cheaper over time than going to a print shop and paying per page. While Prime Day is officially over, there are still some standout deals you can still score.

Brother MFC-J4335DW

Low-cost printer, low-cost ink.
$149.99 at Amazon
$179.99 Save $30.00

Brother's MFC-J4335DW is a mouthful, but it's a solid overall printer for most use cases. It can print, scan, and fax, which makes it an excellent all-in-one (AIO) machine for the home and, to sweeten the deal, Brother's ink is reasonably priced compared to some of the competition. It also has smartphone integration, making it good to have in a modern household. In our review, we noted that the device stands out for its speed and low cost per page. We gave it an "Excellent" 4 out of 5 rating and named it an Editors' Choice among light-duty inkjet AIOs. Its compact size keeps it out of the way and you can connect with USB or Wi-Fi.

Canon Maxify GX5020

Print a lot? Maximize your savings with the GX5020.
$299.99 at Amazon
$399.99 Save $100.00

If you want to step it up a notch, we gave the Canon Maxify GX5020 an "Excellent" 4 out of 5 rating and named it an Editors' Choice among single-function printers for home offices. The cost of ink is reasonable, it integrates with mobile devices, and supports Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and USB connections. It can also do duplex printing, which means it can print on both sides of the paper at the same time. The Canon can handle heavy-duty home printing needs or light or medium-duty loads at a small business. Plus, its paper trays can load two types of paper at once.

Epson EcoTank Pro ET-5850

Two years of unlimited free ink...and great print quality, too
$690.99 at Amazon
$849.99 Save $159.00

Business owners looking for a deal on their next office printer have a chance to pick up the Epson EcoTank Pro ET-5850 for 18% off. The price may still seem a little steep, but Epson will reimburse you the cost of your ink for up to two years. It also helps that the printer itself earns an "Outstanding" 4.5 out of 5 rating and an Editors' Choice designation. The print quality is top tier thanks to its PrecisionCore 4S printheads, and it handles complex tasks like duplex printing.

About Joe Hindy

Contributor

Hello, my name is Joe and I am a tech blogger. My first real experience with tech came at the tender age of 6 when I started playing Final Fantasy IV (II on the SNES) on the family's living room console. As a teenager, I cobbled together my first PC build using old parts from several ancient PCs, and really started getting into things in my 20s. I served in the US Army as a broadcast journalist. Afterward, I served as a news writer for XDA-Developers before I spent 11 years as an Editor, and eventually Senior Editor, of Android Authority. I specialize in gaming, mobile tech, and PC hardware, but I enjoy pretty much anything that has electricity running through it.
