Roku Unleashes Free Viewing to Entertain You

Courtesy of the 'Home Together' initiative, Roku is offering enhanced access to select services including Showtime, Noggin, and FitFusion.

March 28, 2020

Roku is offering enhanced access to select services while most Americans remain self-quarantined due to the coronavirus outbreak. In an effort to entertain users and generate more revenue, Roku and its partners agreed to unleash premium content through 30-day trials. It's a group of partners that target specific areas such as general entertainment, children's programming, and fitness through dedicated channels on Roku's platform.

Some of the channels with 30-day trials up for grabs include Showtime, Epix, Noggin, FitFusion, and Smithsonian. It's all part of a new 'Home Together' initiative.

Roku says all users can find the eligible services within its 'Roku Channel' or the 'Featured Free' section. Sign up to get the 30-day trial, but remember to cancel the subscription after it expires or you'll pay a monthly fee. It doesn't appear that Roku and its partners are waiving the requirement to create an account and add a payment method to start streaming.

In addition, the platform also features unlocked channels and other types of offers that might appeal to users. Roku detailed the services that are going free-to-watch, and its list includes popular names such as WWE Network, FOX News, and NBA League Pass. Pluto TV and Tubi are also on Roku's platform; both run films and series across hundreds of channels without charging a monthly fee. Some users could discover enough content to remain entertained without ever signing up for a subscription to a single service.

You'll need Roku-approved hardware, though. Roku sells set-top boxes and sticks, and companies including TCL and Hisense also sell TVs with its technology integrated. From there, you're all set to stream as much as you want.
