2,033 pounds of pure majestic walrus! Our male walrus loves drinking from his hose waterfall. ⛲️
Check out Clark the king vulture’s nictitating membrane! 👀 Thinner and more transparent than the fleshier upper and lower eyelids we’re all familiar with, the nictitating membrane allows some degree of visibility while simultaneously protecting the eye. 🧡 #InternationalVultureAwarenessDay

Throwback to muskox Willow’s first leaf pile at two months old. Happy first birthday, Willow! 💗
Thanks for joining us to celebrate Willow’s first birthday today! 🎉

Willow is turning ONE this Saturday! 🎉 As the growing muskox gets bigger (now weighing 350 pounds), she has developed a liking for snacking and headbutting – just like her pro-headbutting dad Hudson (who weighs 810 pounds). Join us on Saturday around 2 pm to see Willow celebrate her birthday with her mom Charlotte. 🎂
Exciting news! We’re expecting a baby tapir this year. Yuna is estimated to be 10 to 12 months pregnant. Yuna and soon-to-be father Baku are part of the Species Survival Plan, a managed breeding program for endangered Malayan tapirs. Yuna’s recent ultrasound revealed healthy movement and a heartbeat. 💗

Behind the scenes, a keeper uses a back scratcher to give Yuna some good scritches as zoo veterinarian Dr. Kadie and the team provide the ultrasound.
