Calculating Overall Tire Diameter
Penske Truck Rental offers two devices for towing your vehicle, a tow dolly and a car carrier. The formula below will help you determine which device you will need to use based on your towed vehicle's tire size.
The tire size can be found on the side wall of your tire.
Use the formula below to determine your overall tire diameter.

For example, if the tire size is 225/50R 16, the equation will be implemented as follows:
| (225 * (50 / 100)) * 2 | + 16 = 24.85 |

Which Towing Device Do I Need?
- A tow dolly is required when the overall tire diameter limitation is 22 to 27 inches.
- A car carrier is required when the overall tire diameter limitation is 22 to 28 inches.

The promotional discount is valid from 12:01AM ET, 10/1/2022 until 11:59PM ET, 11/11/2022; provided that the Customer must pick up the vehicle on a Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday during the promotional period. Limit of one use per Customer. Maximum of five (5) free day’s rental charges per Customer. This offer is subject to vehicle availability at the time of reservation. Promotional discount may be combined with other coupons, offers, or discounts. This promotional discount is not redeemable for cash or cash equivalent. The promotional discount is not transferable and Penske reserves the right to change terms at any time in our sole discretion.
